Chair's Message - April 2026

Chair's Message

Dear FSGA Members,

We’re excited to be deep in planning for the 2026 FSGA Summer Conference - and momentum is building quickly. Registration and hotel booking for the July 8-9 event in Philadelphia are now open, and we strongly encourage you to secure your room within our official block as soon as possible. With World Cup games in Philadelphia, we suggest making your arrangements early to avoid significant rate increases.

As you may have seen last week, we're opening our Call for Speakers for the 2026 Summer Conference in Philadelphia, and I’d strongly encourage you to get involved. If you have a perspective or expertise that can help move the industry forward, this is your opportunity to be part of the conversations shaping what’s next.

Following last month’s announcement of a new FSGA Director of Business Development and Growth position being created, we’re pleased to share that Digger Turnbull, President of Game Nights Sports, will step into this role. Digger will be rolling off the Board of Directors this month to focus on expanding our membership, growing non-dues revenue, and strengthening FSGA’s voice and visibility across the industry. We thank Digger for his years of volunteer service and look forward to working with him in this new role. (Speaking of the Board … in case you missed it, we announced the most recent Board election results here last month.)

We also want to highlight decisive action the Board of Directors has taken to protect the industry and our players. Last week, we reviewed and voted on a proposal from Miller & Chevalier to address growing regulatory uncertainty tied to federal excise tax treatment of fantasy sports. Recent IRS interpretations have raised the possibility that DFS contests could be treated as wagering, creating potential tax exposure, increased compliance burdens, and a fundamentally different player experience.

This is not a theoretical issue, it’s a long-term structural risk that could impact operator economics, innovation, and customer engagement across the ecosystem. The proposed approach is a phased federal advocacy strategy, beginning with direct engagement with Treasury and the IRS to assess receptivity, followed by development of a formal legal position if warranted. This is about shaping the outcome early, before regulatory interpretation hardens, rather than reacting after the fact.

In parallel, the Board of Directors has started work to adopt a 2026–2028 Strategic Plan Framework, which will set a clear direction for FSGA’s next phase of growth. The framework will be designed to be both ambitious and measurable - with clear KPIs around membership growth, engagement, and industry impact - and will serve as the foundation for how we allocate time, resources, and leadership focus over the next three years. We will share more information on this important topic in the coming months.

Finally, we’re excited to roll out new features on our website to better serve our community. Our new Industry Job Board will allow members to post a complimentary 30-day job listing, which we’ll amplify across FSGA channels. And now we’re allowing members to submit relevant and timely industry news to our Latest News area of the website, which again, we’ll amplify across FSGA channels to keep our members in the know.

We look forward to continuing to enhance our digital platform and deepen member engagement in the months ahead.

Warm regards,
Brandon Loeschner
Chair, FSGA Board of Directors
